2007/2008 Team Picks

Bridle
5 yrs old, female --Leader

Bridle finished 3rd in last years Taiga 300 with Z. She took the team in single lead for 90 miles. We took this team dog & turned her into one of the yards top leaders. Bridle drives the team with her single minded focus and mental toughness. Bridle is a very dominant female with loads of power. She is a fun dog to train! Strong, self driven and aims to please. Bridle is just an all around Good honest dog! She can be turned loose, she can come into the cabin for the night and or run the team in lead... competitively. This year Bridle is training for the Gin Gin 200 & Iditarod 08.

Motta
26 months, female- Leader
Motta is one of our own. Mother: Zoya-dog
Sire: Gabby

Motta has come a long way in her 2 years. Motta used to be shy running in team for the first year and quickly took to lead like the rest of the zoya-dog litters. She is quite serious most of the time with one thing on her mind --running the show. Motta likes to take chase after small birds along the trail. She ran with John last year in the Yukon Quest (500 miles of the 1st half) and was dropped for a pinched nerve. Motta is showing amazing leader / race potential in this falls training-- mostly leading with Robin, Bjembe and Sebe. Motta is surly an up and coming dog for my team. She, like other great female leaders is quite dominant and does not see eye to eye with Bridle. (they are too much alike!)

Sadie
Leader
5 yr old, brown female

Sadie is an Iditarod finisher. Sadie has speed and stamina; she's a go getter. She has been with me for just over a year now. Sadie is an excellent dog on the line and off. She is driven, dominant and a force in the team. Sadie is a very feminine sled dog--there's something very dainty about her when she's at home in the kennel. But on the line--she's kind of nuts! She changes completely.

I think running is her 1st favorite thing to do. She is nuts and tireless however and that's one of the many things I love about this dog. She gives you 150% on the line all the time and there's only a few dogs that can run with her out of the chute--if they can't measure up to her standards, they will hear all about it in their ear for a mile out of the yard. Sadie is training for GG200, a 300 yet to be selected and Iditarod 08.

Capt. Bligh
2 yrs old, team dog

Bligh is one of our own breed.
Mother:Pheobe
sire: Trapper

Very intense running dog. What does Bligh think about? 2 words. Running & eating. Bligh finished the Taiga 300 with him biting at the chomp for more. Tireless. You wish you had about 12 of these dogs for your race team. I promise.

Storey
2 yrs old, male
team dog, leads

This is littermate to Bligh. Again, 2 words for this guy, top dog. I don't say it lightly. Storey finished the Taiga 300 jumping up and down tail wagging. He gives 250 % if there is such a thing. There's 4 of them and they are strong, tough, eager, fast, and everything you need and want in a top dog for racing. I feel lucky!
